This course is designed for artists who wish to refine their techniques for throwing and shaping clay to create unique art teapots. It aims to integrate complementary throwing and modeling techniques that will enable you to create more elaborate and expressive original pieces. This is achieved by altering and assembling thrown volumes and hand-shaped sculptural elements. It focuses on developing a harmonious composition and an artistic approach to surface and form
TARGETED TECHNIQUES:
- throwing teapot bodies.
- throwing lids and corresponding rims with a compass.
- throwing and assembling a spout and lid handle.
- using a metal rib to shape, define, and smooth the inner and outer walls of closed forms.
- shaping and assembling hand-pulled handles.
- throwing asymmetrical pieces with lids.
- shaping and assembling sculptural decorative elements.
- surface treatments on raw and leather-hard clay (printing, engraving, etc.).
- finishing, handling, and pre-firing drying.
PREREQUISITES:
Mastery of basic throwing techniques.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
Receipt of your full payment officially confirms your registration for this course.
During your training, we provide all the specialized tools and equipment required. During the months you are enrolled, you will also have access to free recycled clay and an individual storage shelf reserved for your personal belongings and projects in progress.
The course registration fee includes teaching fees and the use of studio spaces, tools, and equipment required during the training.
ADDITIONAL SERVICES OFFERED ACCORDING TO YOUR NEEDS:

Raw materials are available for purchase at the studio shop, where you can buy the materials of your choice according to your respective needs.

- If you wish to bisque-fire the pieces you have made as part of your training, a shared bisque-firing service is offered at the studio. Firing fees will be charged pro rata based on the space occupied by your pieces in the kiln when they are unloaded after bisque-firing.
- If you wish to glaze and glaze-fire your pieces at the studio, additional glazing courses or periods of independent access to our glazing lab and a shared glaze-firing service are offered by reservation. Glaze and glaze-firing fees will be charged pro rata based on the space occupied by your pieces in the kiln when they are unloaded after glaze-firing.
- If you wish to practice and optimize the integration of the techniques learned during your training, periods of access to the studio workstations are available by reservation.
